On the first day of the Trump Administration’s return to Washington, the White House issued a memorandum entitled “.” While the title might have been didactic, it was comprehensive. The memo called for recommendations to “advance the policy that Federal buildings should be visually identifiable as civic buildings and respect regional, traditional, and classical architectural heritage in order to uplift and beautify public spaces and ennoble the United States and our system of self-government.” Cue the outrage.
