Students Need Tech-Free Classrooms

Students enrolled in my courses can have only three things out during class: a notebook, something to write with, and the book we're studying. No devices, no technology—not even textbooks, those dead distillations of the rich complexity of our literary heritage. Just a group of people sitting around a table, thinking about and discussing a great work.
