We don’t know much about what 2024 will bring, but we do know this: It’ll be a good year to be a bookworm. Some of our favorite writers are switching genres (hello, Leila Mottley, Lydia Millet, and Phillip B. Williams), and others are returning after many years with books that are well worth the wait. While you might recognize many of the names on this list—Kiley Reid and Henry Louis Gates, Jr., to name just a few—we’re excited to also introduce you to new authors whose works astonish. Get ready to put in some preorders; your TBR list is about to get a whole lot longer.
