No cartoonist was ever better than Carl Barks, and among his peers, men like George Harriman ("Krazy Kat"), Walt Kelly ("Pogo") and Winsor McCay ("Little Nemo in Slumberland"), only Charles Schulz, who wrote and drew "Peanuts," still means so much to so many. If you've ever read a great old Uncle Scrooge or Donald Duck comic, or wondered where the swashbuckling humor of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" came from, or even seen a Japanese comic featuring oddly saucer-eyed characters, you're familiar with Barks's legacy.
